Isla Mujeres

Since I've been reminiscing about Mexico over the past few days I figured I would share one last set of photos I never got around to blogging.

Dying to get out of the resort (as glorious as it was), I managed to get our little group to agree to a day trip to Isla Mujeres on our last day in Mexico.  Just a quick ferry ride from Cancun, Isla Mujeres is a beautiful, albeit tourist filled, tropical island.  We couldn't stop taking pictures of the brightly colored buildings and turquoise waters, and if you're willing to barter a bit, the island has some great souvenirs.

Smaller towns with a local flavor are definitely more my travel style, and I'm looking forward to exploring more of Central America this coming summer!

Cancun: AllTOURnative Adventures

Tour2

To make things as simple as possible for our travel group, we reserved absolutely everything through CheapCaribbean.com.  Our package included flights, airport transfers, all-inclusive accommodations and food, travel insurance, and an excursion of our choice.  Desiring some adventure for our trip, we chose the Jungle Maya day-trip, hosted by AllTOURnative Adventures.

Cancun: Our Home Base

DSCN5482

I generally consider myself a very cheap traveler.  I stay at the cheapest hostels (that still have decent customer reviews) and love eating at food stands or local places.  However, when planning a spring break trip with a small group of friends, many of which were first time travelers, we eventually settled on something much different than I'm used to: An all-inclusive resort.

Spring Break 2013

I've never been able to take a Spring Break trip, and while I've always been fine with staying behind to earn a little extra cash, this year I was dying to finally take a trip.  My friends and I began planning during finals week- the worst time ever, I know- and thanks to an early graduation present from my dad (Thanks, Dad!!) we just put down our first payment for our trip to Cancun, Mexico!

I've never been to Mexico before, and although we'll be sticking around the resort, I cannot wait to explore the beautiful beaches and everything else this gorgeous tropical place has to offer.  If you've been to Cancun, I'd love to hear from you!  Any do's or don'ts?
